User research planning

While working at Capita I have been involved in all aspects of user research - from planning research proposals, to helping run or facilitate sessions, to creating discussion guides and analysing insights. Here are some of my research assets that were used during the Grantis product development lifecycle.

Research planning

Below are examples of various ways I have documented research planning and proposals as part of leading the product design team.

Above: Research roadmap of previous rounds of research and planned future areas of focus.

Above: UX team scratch area for planning to highlight areas of potential UR opportunities.

Above: Research proposal for three rounds of research including estimated timelines for each round.

Research rounds

Below are some examples of outputs from analysing data and insights from research rounds.

Above: Validating user needs and required functionality for an applicant portal through interview based sessions.

Above: Usability testing using an interactive prototype can be useful to validate any design assumptions, or to investigate how new design patterns perform in the real world.

Above: Interview based user research rounds can be used to understand requirements and user needs for new or developing upon existing product functionality.

Team Retros

As part of our agile iterative approach I craft and facilitate retrospective workshops to understand how the UX team is doing and how we can improve as a capability.

Above: Three activities crafted as part of a team retro to understand the reflections of the team, a grouping exercise to identify key themes, and an actions list of the top three actions to implement.
